The Manipur conflict has its roots in historical grievances, ethnic tensions, and competing claims over land and resources. Ethnic groups seeking autonomy have clashed with each other and the central government, leading to an outbreak of violence.
The unrest in Manipur is primarily driven by conflicts between the Meitei and Naga community groups. Historical grievances, territorial disputes, and competition for resources have heightened tensions in the region. Amid all this violence, mobs are looting weapons from security forces and arsenals, and accelerating the conflict in a violent way. These dangerous acts are fuelling and pose grave security concerns for the region.
